TALKS

Annalisa – Navigating Microaggressions: Setting Boundaries as an Adoptee

Annalisa, a cultural producer, communications strategist and award winning doctoral researcher will be discussing upbringing, heritage and how to keep boundaries when navigating microaggressions as an adoptee.

Adoptee Q&A

The popular Adoptee Q&A panel is back, and they will be sharing their unique stories and life experiences growing up as an adoptee. We hope to cover a broad range of topics and we will also welcome any questions you might have on the day.

Adoptee Skincare & Make-Up Panel

Adoptees from the CACH-LL community will also be running a skincare and make-up session for us where they talk through how they do their makeup and some of the best brands and techniques for different Asian complexions and face shapes.

Jan Way – Change and Challenge – Why do adoptees find transitions tricky

Jan Way, a social worker specialising in intercountry adoption and an adoptive mother. This talk will focus on key times of change in an adopteeā€™s life and consider the impact adoption has on transitions both for them and their adoptive families. This will include adolescence, leaving home and establishing a family.

Debbie Doherty – Parents Mixer

Our very own Debbie Doherty will be hosting an informal mixer and Q&A for parents who may need a bit of peer support and to meet other parents in CACH-ALL. Come along and ask questions/compare notes with other parents who may be going through/have been through the same challenges as you.

  • K-pop dance workshop run by Jinder from Birmingham K-pop Choom
  • Lion Dance, Kung Fu and Tai Chi workshops 
  • Sushi making (with an extra session this year!)
  • Candle painting and Jewellery making mixers with sessions for Young Adoptees, Older Adoptees and Parents to come together and chat over crafting and coffee! 
  • The Escape Room is back with a new Historical theme
  • Small Sculpture Workshop – create an small table-top sized sculpture out of wax-based modelling materials onto a pre-prepared wire framework
